Carpet Cleaning Tips: How to Remove Ballpoint Ink

Sometimes, when you bring home work from the office, you find yourself seated on the carpet in your living room with all your paperwork laid out on the table. Here are some carpet cleaning tips for that.

With all that clutter, you are definitely looking for an accident to happen. Before you know it, that bottle of ballpoint ink falls down and spills on your carpet.

Don’t fret. Here is how you can remove ballpoint ink from your carpet. Simply soak a clean piece of cloth in methylated spirits. You might want to put out any candles or cigarettes, since methylated spirits are flammable. As with the usual procedure, blot and dab at the ink stain from the edges working your way inwards. Do not rub at the stain as this will only cause the ink to spread to a wider area. Continue dabbing and blotting at the stain until it is completely removed. Rinse it off with a homemade mixture of 1 teaspoon each of white vinegar and mild wool detergent in 1 liter warm water. Soak a cloth in this mixture and then dab away at the area. Finally, blot out all the excess moisture and blow dry with a hair dryer or fan.
